My Story

What made you choose to study at the University of Lucerne?

I picked the University of Lucerne because the study program fit my profile and career goals, and it just felt like the right match from the very start. Beyond the academics, which are top-notch, I was very excited about living in such a stunning place. One of my biggest drivers when I was younger was exactly that, studying in Switzerland, and it does not get better than Lucerne.

What do you/did you particularly like about your programme of study?

I love how it doesn’t feel like we’re just stuck in a classroom all day. We’re encouraged to think outside the box, and there’s a real mix of classes to learn from. High praise for the constant up-to-date information from all the professors, it felt like I was gathering valuable real-time knowledge and information, not just theoretical study.

What makes the University of Lucerne special/different in your view?

To me what makes something special is not one particular thing – it’s a mix of many factors. From the warmth and helpfulness of the staff to the exciting and challenging classes, to the beautiful location and building, the joy of studying and working on yourself here is just on another level. I also like the fact that it is a smaller university, everything has a more personal touch – that all comes down to the people involved.

What is it like to study in Lucerne as an international student?

If you are a student reading this – I know how you feel, a lot of questions and mixed emotions, but this is one of the most valuable times that you can spend in your younger years. The challenge of a new environment, new people, language, culture, everything. All these things made me grow as a person more than I could ever imagine, and without studying here my life would look very different. And I don’t think that is because of just moving from one place to another, as I mentioned, it’s about the organization and the people. It makes you feel welcome and keeps you going, while at the same time offering an immense challenge for you to grow as a person.
