Universities of Teacher Education

Schwyz University of Teacher Education

Goldau

The Schwyz University of Teacher Education is an institution of higher education where students can qualify to become kindergarten and primary school teachers. Located in the heart of Switzerland in the German-speaking canton «Schwyz», the state-of-the-art building is surrounded by mountains and a stunning natural landscape. Our students value the personal atmosphere and the beautiful surroundings.

Personal Atmosphere

Do you appreciate knowing your fellow students and lecturers personally? With around 350 students and 120 employees the institution is one of the smaller universities of Switzerland. Thanks to the responsiveness of the lecturers and employees, the students can be supported very individually. This intimate atmosphere also means that students and employees alike work together to provide an active and diverse culture of engagement at our university, including cultural and sports events throughout the year.

Teacher Education

The Schwyz University of Teacher Education trains students to become skilled classroom teachers. Our students acquire the necessary skills to teach all class subjects and to manage the classroom. There are two different study programmes: the first for kindergarten and early primary school education (KG and 1st/2nd class), and the second for primary school education (1st to 6th class). These Bachelor degree study programmes include teaching methods and classroom management, child development, as well as a broad range of school subjects. The Schwyz University has a strong record in both continuing professional development, and research and development, with a strong focus on digital media for education. Theoretical background is supported by practica and are well balanced throughout the course of the programme.
