My Story

What was your academic and professional background prior to your BME studies?

“I got my bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from Bangkok in Thailand. Afterwards, I worked for three years as test engineer at NXP semiconductor in Bangkok.”

Why did you choose to pursue your master’s studies at the University of Bern / Bern University of Applied Sciences?

“One reason is that my mother lives in Switzerland and was willing to support me during the studies. Another main reason is that I had some biomedical engineering topics in my bachelor classes which I found very interesting. Also, the program is taught in English and the description sounded very promising and tted well with my studies.”

You continued to work during your studies. How was this experience?

“I worked as research assistant at ARTORG center parallel to my master’s thesis. I really like the work because I learned a lot and had the chance to use the theoretical knowledge in a more practical way.”

What was your career plan after the completion of your degree?

“I wanted to find a job in Switzerland. It would especially be great to find a job which related to electrical biomedical engineering.”

What is the benefit of the master studies with regard to your current professional activity?

“I found a job as production engineer in a company which also produces medical devices. The job is not directly linked to biomedical engineering, but I can use a large part of my knowledge that I gained during the master’s program.”
